I am signing up for the Soul Food classes — many artist doing short classes online over 26 weeks.
Why would a person who is an artist take a class?
I need a jump start. I’m bogged down with the day-to-day of living and running our business and have not had the energy to make art for a long time. This sounds like something I can commit to in the new year: I can sweep away a small area on my desk and put a bunch of artists materials I am uncomfortable with (pastels and colored pencils come to mind) and play.
Then there is the idea of stretching beyond comfort areas. I have never been fond of pastels, though I grew up in architecture with colored pencil renderings. I tried a sketching challenge but I like color… lots of color.
I may take up my 100 Hearts challenge, though crows have been calling. We will see.
I just moved my office desk to the upholstery studio and now have north light and a view (today it is a drizzly view but a view it is.) I have much more room too, but the real impetus was to clear a space to set up my easel where my old office was located, and to allow space for textile reparations.
This gives me the final push toward cleaning the last of my office mess to organize toward more than work. YEAH!
If you decide to do Soul Food too, please share with me!
